If you have enough time and love
some adrenalin rush, you should book with Roving Nepal Trek for Gokyo with
Renjola Pass along the way. This is one of the toughest yet fascinating treks
in Nepal. Gokyo Renjola pass lies in the Solukhumbu district and is less
trailed.
As a result of that, you will get to
see the best form of trails along with very less crowds. Trekking alone to
unknown territories can be tough, therefore Roving Nepal Trek comes with a beautifully
detailed itinerary package too.
This 14-day Gokyo Renjola pass is
more suitable if you do anti-clockwise. One of the brilliant aspects of this
trek is Renjo La Pass which is present at an altitude of 5380m.
As autumn and spring are the best
season to do the trek, you have an opportunity to embrace the Sagarmatha
National Park region.
From exploring the soaring mountains
to walking fairly new trails, you can also experience Sherpa culture and
heritage along the way. The journey with Roving Nepal Trek is worth all the
hype.
Similar to plenty of trekking
options at Roving Nepal Trek, the Gokyo Renjola Pass trek is also famous during
the spring and autumn seasons. The spring season runs from March to May while
the autumn remains from mid-September to November.
Specifically, autumn must be your
perfect selection. Due to the beautiful weather and also the festive season,
you will get a brilliant reception. During those seasons, the weather remains
dry and you get picturesque views.
Trekkers will have to pass above
5000m altitude in a pass so doing this trek during winter and monsoon could be
risky even with life. Another advantage to doing this trek in autumn is the
ability to attend the Mani Rimdu festival in the Everest region.
Any trekking adventure that goes beyond double digits in the itinerary can be difficult. Every day the trekker will have to trek for more than 5 hours. In an unknown territory with fewer crowds, it can be daunting for many. In the end, we will be almost touching 5500m which isn't an easy task.
There could be chances of altitude
sickness, poor recovery, injury, and fatigue. However, if you have minimum
experience of trekking you can do this trek.
The Gokyo Renjola Pass trek is
termed to be a moderate trek. You will need to be fit and have the ability to
trek for 14 days 5 hours minimum every day.
There are two sides to any trek in
Nepal. Autumn and spring are the best season for the trek however there is one
main way to get into the Everest region.
It is a direct flight from Kathmandu
to Lukla. But during the peak season, the airport gets jam-packed and it is
hard to find the right flight for the trek.
Not only that there are major
chances of flights getting cancelled which creates major issues. To solve this
problem, we also have a flight to Manthali airport in Ramechhap which later
goes to Lukla.
However, you can drive to Salleri
and start your journey from there but it will take a lot of time and patience
which isn't an answer. So we suggest the readers book early from Roving Nepal
Trek and save all the hassle.
Similar to all the Everest region
trek Gokyo Renjola Pass trek also moves around on basic permits.
The first one will be the Tourist
Information Management System (TIMS) card. Along with that, you will also need
to have a Sagarmatha National Park Entry Permit. These two permits will allow
you easier access to the Everest region.
Similar to a lot of other treks like
EBC, and EBC heli tour, you will get basic facilities during this trek. A
journey of 14 days will move around the teahouse and guest houses along the
way.
From solar facilities to ports for
mobile and electronic device charging and a heater in the center of the tea
house, you will get all the basic facilities. Twin bedroom, cover, pillow, and
resting area for trekkers are some of the available facilities.
Meanwhile, with food you will find
is the Nepalese staple dish. From Dal, Bhaat, Dhido, Thakali, and Momo to basic
Western food you will find everything that will keep you healthy along the
14-day journey.
The cost for the Gokyo Renjola Pass
trek differs from time to time. If you book a flight on the peak hours with the
most luxurious facilities the cost will surely rise.
Likewise, if you believe in sharing
the rooms, food, and cost, you will have to pay much less. Therefore the actual
cost of the Gokyo Renjola Pass trek is hard to determine.
However, if you are looking for a
process to book for the Gokyo Renjola Pass trek, all you have to do is contact
Roving Nepal Trek through the website, social media, or contact number and we
will take it from there.
The second day begins with the most
beautiful flight to Lukla. It is 35 minutes long. Upon our arrival at Lukla, we
will be trekking for 4 hours on the same day to reach Phakding and spend our
time there.
After spending the night at Phakding
in the beautiful guest house, we begin our journey early in the morning. On
this day we will be entering the Sagarmatha National Park area. 7 hours of trek
will lead us to Namche Bazaar.
Acclimatization is a very important
part of the Gokyo Renjola Pass trek. To adjust to the local environment we stay
at Namche and hike to Everest View Hotel to enjoy our time.
After
leaving Namche Bazaar behind we will be heading towards dole . Two
trails take us there and trekkers will follow the Roving Nepal Trek guide. It
lies higher than Dudh Koshi and Imja Khola. Finally, after 6 hours of trek, we will reached dole and visit the village.
As we spend the night at the village
of Dole, the journey moves on and off. We took an offbeat steep trail
to reach Dole. A journey marked by rhododendrons, pine trees, yak herds, and
mountains, you will reach Macchermo after 5 hours. We spend the night
there.
Finally, the day when we reach the
Gokyo circuit is the 7th day. It is a rugged trail day and you have to trek for
excess of 5 hours. Through the Pangkha, Cholaste, and Nzogumpa glaciers, you
will be reaching Gokyo region. The mesmerizing lakes of Gokyo and Longbanga
Tsho will keep you hooked.
The beauty of Gokyo Valley can't be
enjoyed in a single day. Therefore we decide to acclimatize on the 8th.
Although we will climb to Gokyo Ri it won't be too tough. The Roving Nepal Trek
team will be interested in early sunrise reaching the top for beautiful views.
At the end, we head back to the hotel.
As we leave the beauty of Gokyo
behind we will be reaching for Renjo La Pass. A terrific pass that can be scary
with loose stones, you will need to take your time and enjoy the beauty. Renjo
La Pass lies at 5360m which is the highest spot of the trek. Breathing is tough
here. Slowly we will be coming down to reach Lumde.
We will continue our trek to Namche bazar the trek flowing the flat terrain descending to our first resting place ,Thamo and heading Namche

Tips for the trekking crew members
I traveled the Everest Base Camp (EBC) route in March 2023 with Basu, the guide from Roving Nepal Trek. Even six months later, the journey remains unforgettable and worth recommending to fellow travelers on TripAdvisor. When hiring a guide, what we truly appreciate is the ease of having someone organize the itinerary, and transportation, manage the essential details, and handle administrative procedures along the way. Basu provided all of this and more. Prior to our departure, he promptly answered our inquiries on WhatsApp, ranging from entry requirements to equipment advice. Basu's fluent English ensured smooth communication, and he efficiently arranged accommodations and transportation for our group throughout the journey, leaving no room for mishaps. Basu's adaptability deserves recognition. Initially, our itinerary included a side trip to Gokyo Lake in addition to EBC. Unfortunately, we encountered a snowstorm at the Cho La Pass, a critical point on the route. Basu had been monitoring the weather, coordinating with other guides, and ultimately decided it was unsafe to proceed, avoiding potential danger. Here's an amusing anecdote: In the high-altitude haze, I accidentally took a room key from one of the lodges after checking out, only realizing it two hours into our trek. My initial panic quickly turned into despair at the thought of having to hike back. Basu simply reassured me, "It's OK." He suggested that if we met any returning groups, he could ask their guides to return the key. His ability to handle both major and minor challenges is a testament to his quality as a guide. 【Attentive Care for Altitude Sickness During the journey, I struggled with symptoms of altitude sickness, including severe asthma, persistent insomnia-induced fatigue, and occasional stomach discomfort. At times, I doubted whether I could complete the trip. It was essential to report these symptoms to our guide. Basu was quick to assess whether my symptoms were severe or just a regular reaction, offering suitable dietary recommendations. 【Acknowledging the Porters' Hard Work 不要忘記挑夫的辛勞】 In addition to our guide, our team hired two porters who carried our luggage along the way. These young men were not only remarkably strong, effortlessly lugging backpacks weighing over ten kilograms, but they also thoughtfully provided us with fresh fruit at every meal, ensuring top-notch service. 【In Conclusion 最後】 Throughout our journey, Basu, became a formidable Big 2 (a card game) player thanks to our group's collective efforts. If you ever visit Nepal, don't miss the chance to challenge him! Remember, this review is to highlight the great experience of having Basu as a guide, and I hope fellow travelers find this information valuable when considering their adventure to Everest Base Camp.
