The perfect trekking trip for almost every kind of hiker from beginners to
seasoned. At an altitude of 3640 m, Khopra Ridge is the perfect destination for travelers to relish the close-up view of mountains like Dhaulagiri, Annapurna South,
Nilgiri, etc.
Annapurna region of Nepal is a gem of Himalayan walking
adventure. The place has different types of trekking routes for the trekkers to
enjoy. Some of the most famous trekking routes of the region are Annapurna Base
Camp Trek, Ghorepani Poon Hill Trek, Mardi Himal Trek, and Annapurna Circuit
Trek. All these trekking routes attract thousands of trekkers from across the
globe every year. Therefore, these trekking routes are always crowded. For some
people, trekking is an activity to do in a tranquil place away from any kind of
bustling! If this is the case, try doing the Khopra Hill Trek!
The Khopra Hill Trek route falls within the ACAP (Annapurna
Conservation Area Project). So, trekkers must get the ACAP permit and TIMS
(Trekkers’ Information Management System) permit. The trekking is suitable for
all kinds of trekkers (both beginners and seasoned hikers) but they need to
have sound physical fitness and stamina level. There are many uphill and
downhill ascents/descents. The average walking hours on this trek is about
6-7 hours. Therefore, do some cardio-vascular exercises 15 days before the
trekking.
The maximum altitude on this trek is 4600 m. Therefore, there is a high risk of altitude sickness. Don’t forget to get travel insurance that
covers all emergencies, accidents, and helicopter rescue.
There are many trailheads for the Khopra Hill Trek. You can
start the trekking from Nayapul, Tatopani, Tikhedhunga, and Ghandruk. The most
popular and easy way to do the trek is from Ghandruk. Trekkers reach the
Ghandruk on jeep via Pokhara from Kathmandu.
There are many confusing articles and information about the
Khopra Hill Trek Itinerary. The trail is relatively new and untouched.
Therefore, you will not be able to find the exact and scientific trekking
itinerary for this route. To knit the best itinerary, Roving Nepal
Trek sent its travel planners to find out the best route.
The trekking starts from Ghandruk. This village is the model
cultural village of Nepal. You can reach the village either by bus or jeep from
Pokhara. The first resting camp is in Tadapani. Traversing through green lush
forests, trekkers can enjoy the serene forest environment throughout the trip.
Trekkers finally reach the Khopra Ridge by spending overnight at Dobato.
Once you are at Khopra Hill, you will feel as if you are
in a place above the clouds. The close-up view of the mountains provides a Himalayan
wilderness feeling. To reach the place above 4500 m altitude, trekkers
do the hike to Khayer Lake. It is one of the major highlights of the trekking.
Get the outstanding mirror image of mountains on the quaint water lake. There
are no lodging facilities in the Khayer Lake area. Therefore, trekkers return
back to Khopra.
You can return from Khopra to Pokhara from two
different routes. One is from Banthanti via Ghorepani and another is from
Tatopani via Swanta. The best recommendation is the route of Swanta. After the
entire arduous walking trip, trekkers can rest and relax in the natural hot
water springs at Tatopani.
The trek difficulty is fairly moderate on this trip. You
must be physically fit. There are long steep ascents and descents. The trail is
narrow and vertical in some sections. The maximum altitude is in the altitude
sickness zone. Therefore, proper planning and a reliable trekking companion are
highly necessary. Don’t underestimate this trekking route even if it is
suitable for both seasoned hikers and beginners.
Yes, you can do Khopra Hill Trek and Poon Hill Trek in one
single trip. After exploring Khopra Ridge, trekkers hike to Ghorepani. This
hill station town is the major town from where trekkers hike to Poon Hill.
Trekkers can extend the trek to either Mohare Danda or Mulde View Point.
Khopra Hill Trek has so many names. Therefore, all these
names are the same. Please don’t get confused about names. Contact the travel planners

Ridge surely provides an enriched trekking experience.
